How parents/carers can develop - Their child's Mathematical skills

Duration 10 weeks

Description

Entry requirement: No particular entry course requirement is necessary for this course. Parents and carers whose children are at Primary School Level are encouraged to apply for this short course.

Duration: 10-week course of 2 contact hours weekly starting in October until December 2012 or from February until May 2013.

Learning Outcomes:

* Learn how to support children in developing their understanding of problem solving, reasoning and numeracy in a broad range of contexts in which they can explore, enjoy, learn, practise and talk about their developing understanding

* Practise these skills in order to give children confidence in their use

* Develop mathematical understanding through stories, songs, games and play; Take part in different, practical, imaginative and enjoyable activities focus on mathematical development and learning including observing numbers and patterns in the environment and daily routines Method of learning: lessons, hands-on, practical work, discussions, joint-sessions with children and parents, and presentations.

Feedback/Assessment: on-going feedback and practical exercises.

Venue/s: B'Bajda Mriehel, Kirkop, Floriana, Gzira.

Certification/Award: Certificate of Attendance based on 80% of regular attendance and participation.

NOTE: The Directorate for Lifelong Learning shall be receiving applications between Monday 13th and Friday 31st August 2012 from 8.30am till noon. Please note that applications submitted through the internet (online) are more efficient as these are processed directly by the computer programme system. Kindly note that use of Internet Explorer is necessary for the application to be duly processed
