Entry Requirement: No particular requirement is necessary for this level.

Duration: 14-week course of 2 contact hours weekly, starting n October 2012 until January 2013 or from February until May 2013.

General Objectives: The Maltese sign language course is the language of the people with hearing impairment. These people are not at a disadvantage when they use this language to express themselves to other persons with same impairment. Their life will become even easier if family, friends, and community members cold be able to comunicate socially through the sign language. This course is a basic course for those who have never been exposed to Maltese Sign Language.

Feedback/ Assessment: continuous assessment and feedback

Venue/s: Blata l-Bajda

Certification/ Award: Certificate of Attendance based on 80% of regular attendance and final assessment Maltese Sign Language is the language of the deaf community. Deaf people are not at a disadvantage when they use this language to express themselves to other deaf people as well as to hearing people. This course is a basic course for those who have never been exposed to Maltese Sign Language. It is useful for all those who meet or work with deaf people, for example, family members, friends, doctors, nurses, teachers, speech therapists, etc.

NOTE: The Directorate for Lifelong Learning shall be receiving applications between Monday 13th and Friday 31st August 2012 from 8.30am till noon. Please note that applications submitted through the internet (online) are more efficient as these are processed directly by the computer programme system. Kindly note that use of Internet Explorer is necessary for the application to be duly processed
